7earshe entered the office of the New Castle Courier in1891, as reporter, became city editor, assistantmanager, editor and manager, and finally, ownerof the plant which he successfully operated untilhe sold out in 1901. He is a member of the NewCastle school board and a Knight Templar. Hehas traveled extensively through the East andSouth and has a desire to sometime, sooner or la-ter, make his home back in ancestral Virginia,but prefers the eastern side of the mountains. THE CURRENT FAMILY 151 Waters and Mrs. Helena Fulton; one to NiagaraFalls in 1898, and the other to Chattanooga in1899. They have three children, William James,born Jan. 6. 1900; Helena Margaret, born Oct. 18,1902 and Maurice Leonard, born July 26,1905. Willie Claud, the last born child, was strickenwith illness in June 1886 and died on the fifteenthday of that month after but a few days sickness,at the age of 14 years, 10 months and 28 days. Hedied, murmuring the words of the song TheHome of the Soul and requesting those abouthis couch, to meet him in heaven. James L. Waters, the husband and father, grewto a ripe old age and passed on to the reward ofthe faithful, February 19, 1894, at the age of sev-enty seven. He died as he had lived, in the faithand triumph of a Christian, and bequeathed to hissons and daughters a goodly heritage—the exam-ple of a well-spent life.
