Knights of Pythias. He is alsohonorary member of the Grand Army. Hemarried, June 11, 1866, Marianne L., bornDecember 18, 1839, daughter of Thaddeusand Margaret (Nelson) Quin, of New Or-leans. Her father was a southern planter,who died a few years before the war, a vic-tim of cholera, at the age of forty-one years.Her mother died at the age of thirty-five years.Both parents w^ere members of the Presby-terian church. Children of Dr. Byron WillisPease: i. Minnie Eva, died in infancy. 2.Arthur, died 1881. 3. Walter B.. born Novem-ber 22, 1868. died in 1893, was a medical stu-dent in Bellevue Hospital College at the time.4. Jessica B., born February 14, 1872, a pianoteacher in Thomaston. 5. Ruth Calla, bornJune 28. 1878, resides with her mother at theold home in Thomaston. (IX) Horton, son of Sylvanus Horton

CONNECTICUT 1329 Pease, was born at Winchester, Connecticut,May 24, 1844. At the age of eighteen, whileattending school at Ellington, Connecticut,in response to the governments call for ninemonths volunteers to aid General Grant inthe west in the capture of Vicksburg and PortHudson, opening up navigation of the Missis-sippi river, breaking the back-bone of the re-bellion, he enlisted with his brothers, HenryR. and Byron W., in August, 1862, as a mu-sician, drummer boy, in Company F, Twenty-fifth regimetit, Connecticut Volunteer Infan-try. This is a very remarkable instance of sixsons, all the children of this family, offeringthemselves upon the countrys altar in hertime of need and at her call, all being in serv-ice in different departments at this time. Atthe expiration of his term of service he re-turned to Connecticut, and was mustered outat Hartford, 1863. Again in 1864, in responseto his brothers call, for teachers to serve un-der the management of the freedmens bu-reau of school
