CHINESE GENERAL, PATRON OF AMERICAN COLLEGE AT CANTON, NOW IN CHARGE OF CITY GOVERNMENT

With the increasing of tension at Canton, China, has come news that General Lei Fuk Lam (left), governor of Honan Island and liberal patron of the Canton Christian College, some members of the staff of which were recently fired on by Yunnanese troops, has been put in charge of the city government of Canton which transferred to Honan when the Yunnanese took the city proper. At the right is shown Doctor Sidney K. Wei, professor of philosophy and government at Canton Christian College, who holds in his hand a silver plaque presented to the General by 36 students whose release from bandits without ransom Lei Fuk Lam obtained some time ago.
