Guillaume-Henri Dufour. Nommé général en 1847, il prend la tête de l’armée suisse pour mener la guerre du Sonderbund contre les 7 cantons séparatistes conservateurs et ultra-catholiques. Il gagna la guerre, avec un minimum de pertes pour toutes les parties. Il ordonna d'épargner les blessés, les prisonniers et ceux qui étaient sans défense. Guillaume-Henri Dufour est l'auteur de la première carte de la Suisse à relevé topographique précis, nommée carte Dufour. Il est cofondateur de la Croix-Rouge internationale. G.H. Dufour fut fait officier de l'ordre royale de la Légion d'honneur à dater du 11 janvier 1832. Dufour s'éteindra le 14 juillet 1875 à l'âge de 87 ans. Le plus haut sommet de Suisse (4634 m) porte le nom d Pointe Dufour.

He won the war with minimum losses for all parties. He ordered to save the wounded, prisoners and those who were helpless. Guillaume-Henri Dufour, author of the first map of Switzerland precise topographic survey, called Dufour map. He is co-founder of the International Red Cross. GH Dufour was made an Officer of the Royal Order of the Legion of Honor from the date of 11 January 1832. Dufour off July 14, 1875 at the age of 87 years. The highest peak in Switzerland (4634 m) is named Pointe Dufour. |
