Description
Nederlands: Zicht op het reliëf in kalksteen in de hal van het Kunstmuseum Den Haag in Den Haag. Het is een ontwerp van Willem van Konijnenburg (1868-1943). Centraal staat wederom de Haagse stedenmaagd die tevens het goddelijk licht verbeeldt. De vijf engelachtige figuren die haar aureool lijken vast te houden, staan voor de vijf disciplines die het museum in 1935 liet zien: oude kunstnijverheid, muziekinstrumenten, prenten, Haagse historie en moderne kunst. Aan haar voeten komt het ‘volk’ samen dat zij met haar rechterhand de weg naar de kunst wijst. Vandaar dat het kunstwerk de spreuk ‘Eer het god’lijk licht in d’openbaringen van de kunst’ draagt."
