5 Jule 1894 Geddes' Ferry, Caboolture River In continuation of our views in Queensland we present this month a notable spot in the Wide Bay district. It is known as Geddes' Ferry, on the road to Gympie, a town famed throughout Australia by reason of the wonderful richness of its auriferous reefs and of the alluvial deposits which had been worked previously. The ferry, or punt, is of a kind common to the colonies, and is used for transporting passengers, vehicles, &c., across inland waters. The surroundings of the Caboolture are of a tropical character ; the bush, or scrub almost as thick as a jungle, and the soil so wonderfully rich that sugar, cotton, and other tropical products are grown on its banks in great luxuriance. Within the last few years settlement has progressed so rapidly that almost every acre of land in the vicinity has been alienated from the Crown.
