Summary
[edit]DescriptionGauging station on New Cut - geograph.org.uk - 1046946.jpg |
English: Gauging station on New Cut. As opposed to New Cut (drain): 969698. These stations allow the Environment Agency to measure the flow in the rivers and assess flood risks or water shortages. They work by measuring the height of the water above a weir, which together with the width of the weir and a bit of fluid mechanics, gives the volume flow rate. |
