English: Gateway to Palmer's Almshouses, Exeter. All that remains of the almshouses.
"Palmer's Almshouses was founded and endowed by John Palmer in 1487, and a smaller establishment cared for four poor women. The complex was considered unfit for habitation by 1865 and was demolished. However, the Chamber Map Book of 1758 and 19th century images of the complex depict a courtyard arrangement with a range of four houses set back from the complex depict a courtyard arrangement with a range of four houses set back from the road behind a garden.
