Summary

Description
English: Gates to Fordell Castle woodland path. Geograph for NT1485 Fordell, Fife

On the way to Fordell Castle and St. Theriot's Chapel. Near St. Theriot's Well...

The Mill - The ruined remains of the village mill, are said to be haunted by the spectre of a hanged man who appears with grotesque choking face and bulging eyes.:

During one of Cromwell's campaigns in Scotland, some of his troops invaded the miller's home and demanded to stay. After repeated defiling of the miller's wife and daughter, the miller poisoned them. The miller and his family escaped but his assistant, a man called Jock, was punished and hanged.

The scene is said to be repeated on darker nights, when the sound of branches creaking with his slumped, lifeless weight can be heard.
