Summary
[edit]DescriptionGategill Fell Race - geograph.org.uk - 49942.jpg |
English: Gategill Fell Race. Runners in the Gategill Fell Race begin the ascent of Gategill Fell just after leaving Blease Gill. This four mile race was short lived although is typical of the traditional up and down fell races that are part of many northern sports and show meetings. The inaugural race was in the mid 1980's, I believe it has now folded. The runners started outside the Horse and Farrier Inn, Threlkeld and ascended, Knott Halloo on Gategill Fell, half way up Blencathra before turning round and flying down.
In the distance is the fell of Clough Head. |
