English: Gate Post, Raisdale. The old stone gate post shows a tradition method used in the North York Moors of gating. L shaped notches, three in this case, can be seen cut into the post. The opposite post would have three square notches. Beams of wood would then be slipped into the notches to prevent stock escaping.
