Notes | British Mk V gas mask and satchel, WW2 Presented by Professor Bob Briggs who, from May 1942 to March 1943, was seconded to the New Zealand Government for the development of nitrogen and mustard gases and the organisation of a New Zealand training course for civilian gas identification officers. Professor Lindsay Heathcote Briggs, DSc DPhil Oxon FRSNZ FNZIC 1956–58 (1905-1975) Known to friends and colleagues as Bob, Professor Briggs researched and lectured in chemistry at Auckland University. He was also a member of the Auckland Museum Institute and a fellow with the Royal Society.
