English: Project to drain a 200m stretch (between Gas Street Basin and the The Mailbox of the Worcester and Birmingham Canal in central Birmingham, England. A water leak had been discovered in February 2015 into a disused rail tunnel under the Holliday Street Aqueduct or the adjacent Worcester Wharf. The short drained stretch lies above a road (the Holliday Street Aqueduct) and two rail tunnels (the Cross-City Line and the tunnel to the disused Central Goods railway station.
The water has been pumped out of the canal behind the blue temporary dam. Immediately behind the dam is the Holliday Street Aqueduct. |
