Description
English: Schist & quartzite in the Devonian of Vermont, USA.

The dark-colored rocks seen here are schists of the Devonian-aged Waits River Formation in Vermont. The light-colored rocks are quartzites. The precursors to these metamorphics were shales and sandstones.

Stratigraphy: Waits River Formation, Devonian

Locality: roadcut along Route 9, at the Route 9-Stark Road intersection, east of Marlboro & west of Brattleboro, Windham County, southern Vermont, USA (42° 52' 14.92" North latitude, 72° 39' 19.15" West longitude)
