English: Garn Turne burial chamber The collapsed capstone here is massive, said to weigh in the region of 60 tons, which would have made this a tomb to rival Pentre Ifan and Carreg Samson. Like the former, there are signs of a forecourt in front of the chamber entrance.
The intervisibility with the natural outcrop of Maiden Castle above Treffgarne is unlikely to be co-incidental. See http://www.landscape-perception.com/related_locations/garn_turne/ for further information about the significance of this. |
