| Description |
English: Garbh Choire and ridge to Ben Alder. The top of the Short Leachas is a good point to stop for a photograph, and to get one's breath after the steep ascent. The east-facing escarpment at the edge of the Ben Alder plateau gets heavily corniced in winter when the westerly prevailing winds blow spindrift over the edge, which is why, in spring, the plateau offers a relatively snow-free surface to walk on, whilst Gharbh Choire is overhung by the remains of the cornice. Compare this with 420070 taken at a similar date 12 years later which has a lot less snow. |
