Summary
[edit]DescriptionGanymede - Voyager 2 (26670869304).png |
Three high-resolution views of Ganymede taken by Voyager near closest approach on July 9, 1979. At this point in the approach, Voyager took a short break from acquiring image mosaics to allow the UV Spectrometer to drift across the moon to collect compositional data, as well as search for signs of an atmosphere. These images were taken as support observations to help provide context for the UV studies. However, they also provide some of the highest-resolution imagery of Voyager 2's flyby.
