Summary
[edit]DescriptionGamochaeta americana flowerhead1 (14624030625).jpg | Introduced, cool-season, perennial, slender herb 10–35 cm tall. Basal leaves are in a rosette which usually withers by flowering. These leaves are spathulate or obovate, 5–12 cm long; upper surface is green and becoming hairless; lower surface is covered with dense intertwined white hairs; cauline leaves are similar but smaller and narrower. Flowerheads are slightly loose and spreading, the heads not held together tightly in axillary clusters and surrounded by several leafy, white-hairy bracts. Flowering is from October to January. A native of Central and South America, it grows in disturbed areas. |
