DescriptionGambrelRoof ApiaryButterfield.png |
English: Comparison of the Gambrel roof design seen on the Apiary and that on Butterfield House at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The buildings were constructed roughly 30 years apart from one other and it is likely that Butterfield's architect, Louis Warren Ross, an alumnus of the institution, based his design on the Apiary, then the only other building in the vicinity of the dorm site. (Apiary on the left, Butterfield on the right.)
