Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Gallt-y-foel. A linear settlement built along the steep road leading to Dinorwig Quarry. Many of the cottages were initially built by quarrymen on common land, but when Assheton Smith, the quarry owner obtained a parliamentary measure to enclose the land, they became his tenants. This remained the case until the mid 1960s when the Faenol Estate auctioned off its properties.
