Description Galle on the South Western tip of Sri Lanka is one of the oldest ports in the Island Country. It is also the fourth largest city in the country. Galle Fort was originally built by the Portuguese Colonizers in 1588, but was captured from them by the Dutch who further fortified and enlarged it from 1649 onward.
