[edit]
Description
English: Galilei's older telescope, the eyepiece part. Museo Galileo, Florence, Inv. 2428. A telescope designed and built by Galileo Galilei in the winter between 1609. Wood, leather. The plano-convex lens has a diameter of 37 mm, but an aperture of only 15 mm, is 2.0 mm thick in the centre and has a focal length of 980 mm. The eyepiece consists of a biconvex lens of 22 mm diameter, 1.8 mm thick in the middle and has a focal length of -47.5 mm. The magnification is therefore 21x, the field of view is only 15 arc minutes (quarter degree).

Čeština: Dalekohled, který Galileo Galilei navrhnul a vyrobil roku 1609. Část s okulárem. Dřevo, kůže. Plankonvexní čočka objektivu má průměr 37 mm, aperturu (účinný otvor) však jen 15 mm, uprostřed je tlustá 2,0 mm a má ohniskovou vzdálenost 980 mm. Okulár je tvořen bikonkávní čočkou průměru 22 mm, uprostřed je tlustá 1,8 mm a má ohniskovou vzdálenost -47,5 mm. Zvětšení je tedy 21x, ostré zorné pole je pouze 15 úhlových minut (čtvrt stupně). Ostatní je ze dřeva a kůže.
