Galeries Colbert and Vivienne: ground floor plan |
|||||||||||||||||||||||
Description |
The enormous success and popularity of the inauguration of the Galerie Vivienne in 1825 inspired architects to quickly design plans for an adjacent second arcade. The Galerie Colbert was built in 1826 in an attempt to duplicate the splendor of its predecessor. The two Galeries were originally built to be separate from each other but today are architecturally joined. This site plan dates from 1826 and features the layout of both arcades. |

Copyright may extend on works created by French who died for France in World War II (more information), Russians who served in the Eastern Front of World War II (known as the Great Patriotic War in Russia) and posthumously rehabilitated victims of Soviet repressions (more information).
