"Galata Mevlevihanesi 1491’de, Afyon Mevlevihanesi Şeyhi Divane (Semaî) Mehmed Dede tarafından, İskender Paşa’nın Galata’daki arazisinde yaptırıldı. Galipdede ve Kulekapısı adlarıyla da bilinen yapı, derviş türbeleri, semahane, sebil-küttab, hâmûşân, sarnıç, şadırvan ve çamaşırhane bölümlerinden oluşur. Harem Dairesi, Matbah-ı Şerif ve Derviş Odaları’nın bir kısmı zaman içerisinde kullanılmaz hâle geldi.
Tekke, zaviye ve türbelerin kapatılmasına dair 1925’te çıkarılan kanun çerçevesinde mevlevihanenin faaliyetlerine son verildi. 1975’te Divan Edebiyatı Müzesi olarak yeniden açılan yapı, 2011’den bu yana Galata Mevlevihanesi Müzesi olarak hizmet vermektedir."
