Description
English: Gagarin's Start, Kazakhstan September 18, 2016
  • 57 years ago our view of the Earth was forever changed when the the Soviet Union successfully sent Sputnik into an elliptical orbit. The launchpad (right) was also the site of Yuri Gagarin’s landmark flight in 1961, and remains active today.
