English: Iljumun, or One Pillar Gate is the first gate normally found at the entrance to a Korean Buddhist temple. Iljumun at Gaeamsa is exceptionally ornate.
Gaeamsa is a small, quiet Korean Buddhist temple in Buan County, North Jeolla Province, South Korea built in 634 AD during the Baekje Dynasty and expanded in 1313. The temple was burned down during the Imjinwaeran Japanese Invasion and reconstructed in 1658. |
