English: Port of Bristol Authority BR 13 ton unfitted, 5-plank open wagon (with tarpaulin bar) No.61110 at Winchcombe, Gloucestershire & Warwickshire Railway, 9 June 2010. BR TOPS Code OWO. It was latterley used at Avonmouth Docks. Although its origin is uncertain, it seems to be a GWR 13 ton (though initial batches were 10 tons), uprated to 13 tons in WWII, unfitted, 'OPEN A' goods wagon, Diagram O18, 2,475 of which were built at Swindon, The Royal Arsenal (Woolwich) and the Birmingham Railway Carriage & Wagon Co. (Smethwick) in 1914-24. They were a modified version of the 10 ton, unfitted 'OPEN A' Diagram O14 hybar goods wagon, 2,200 of which were built in 1910-12 which in turn was an update of Diagram O11, 10,815 of which were built at Swindon and by the Metropolitan Amalgamated Wagon & Finance Co. in 1911-19. |
