English: Dr. Anna Christmann, Aerospace Coordinator for the German Federal Government, visited NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center for the first time Thursday, March 7, 2024. In her delegation were two active European Space Agency (ESA) astronauts Alexander Gerst and Matthias Maurer. During the visit, the delegation visited with Dr. Makenzie Lystrup, Goddard’s Center Director, and had discussions related to Goddard’s work in climate modeling and observations, as well as viewed the Roman Space Telescope being integrated in the cleanroom at Goddard. The delegation met with Dr. Gina DiBraccio, deputy director for the Heliophysics Sciences Division at Goddard. During Dr. Christmann’s time learning about Goddard’s role in the study of the Sun and how Goddard is working across agencies to protect the astronauts, specifically related to the Artemis mission, the ESA astronauts personally thanked Dr. DiBraccio along with her team for working so hard to keep themselves and their colleagues safe on a daily basis.
