Description

Catalog # GRCA 9085 . Object: BOAT. Description: . Sportyak named the "Dock". The "Dock" is a Sportyak II, made by Dayton Marine Products, Inc. and is vacuum formed of linear polyethelene.. Length: 88 3/8 inches; . Beam: 44 1/2 inches; . Height of bow: 21 1/4 inches; . Height of transom 16 inches; . Height of midship 14+ inches:. Weight: 38 pounds. This boat was used by Otis ’Dock’ Marston for a complete traverse of the Grand Canyon- Lees Ferry to Lake Mead, August 5-31, 1963. That trip included three other identical boats. The expedition was sponsored by the NPS to photograph extreme low river conditions after the gates were closed at Glen Canyon Dam. The "Dock" also ran Cataract Canyon, March 28- April 4, 1964. Its final trip was on the Colorado from Whitmore Canyon to Lake Mead, May 5-12, 1965. The boat was backpacked into the canyon on the Whitmore trail for that trip. . .
