Description

English: An aerospace engineer and two wind tunnel mechanics perform a model change in the GRC 8x6 Supersonic wind tunnel. The test program is the commercial supersonic transport (CST Project, X-59 Sonic Boom Test). Different models were used to measure the shock waves which produce sonic booms. The desire is to produce a supersonic aircraft with a quieter boom, or thump, so as to permit the aircraft to fly over the continental US.
