THE GENERAL POST OFFICE, LONDON. The great building in St. Martins-le-Grand, of which our illustration shows us a portion, is the centre of the largest game of "General Post " that ever was played in the world. "Post goes from London to------------." The place to which the post does not go from London has yet to be discovered. 1,893,000,000 letters. 336,500,000 postcards. 697,900,000 book packets, and 150,600,000 newspapers represent a single year's transactions of the British Post Office, and of these enormous totals a very large portion pass through the G P.O. The Post Office is still under the direct orders of the Crown. The Postmaster General, unlike other Ministers, issues his "commands."
