Description
English: 3000 returned servicemen from the First World War built the Great Ocean Road in Commemoration to those Australians who died during the War. Much of the road was built by hand and at completion was in many parts just one car wide. "Big Hill" was a very difficult section that held the road up, so a number of building lots near by were sold to the public to help finance the payments to the men. The allotments are situated near to this cutting.
