English: Dan Satterfield, Chief Meteorologist for WBOC TV in Salisbury, Maryland, talks about his experience at NOAA’s Hazardous Weather Testbed (HWT) Spring Experiment during the GOES-R Preview for Broadcasters short course held on June 9, 2015, prior to the 43rd American Meteorological Society (AMS) Conference on Broadcast Meteorology. Satterfield encouraged his fellow broadcast meteorologists to participate in the HWT Spring Experiment if given the chance because “You have no idea how much forecasting is about to change as we head into the GOES-R era!”
The GOES-R short course was designed to make broadcasters aware of GOES-R capabilities, how it can improve their services to the viewing public, and what equipment upgrades are needed to handle the new data and products. In addition to informational presentations, the course offered hands-on experience with proxy and simulated GOES-R products and capabilities.
