Title
GLO-05B402 Medieval bulla of Urban VI
Description
English: A medieval lead papal bulla fragment of Pope Urban V (AD 1362-1370). The object would have been circular in plan but is now broken in two along the line where the cords pass through the centre from top to bottom. On the face is the truncated inscription UR/AN/ PP which would have originally read URB/ANUS/PP V (The 'PP' stands for 'pastor pastorum' which translates as 'shepherd of the shepherds').

The other side depicts the busts of Saints Peter and Paul within drop-shaped pelleted borders, but only the right bust remains. Above the bust is SPE, the abbreviation for St Peter.
