This map image could be re-created using vector graphics as an SVG file. This has several advantages; see Commons:Media for cleanup for more information. If an SVG form of this image is available, please upload it and afterwards replace this template with
{{vector version available|new image name}} .
It is recommended to name the SVG file “GIUK gap.svg”—then the template Vector version available (or Vva) does not need the new image name parameter. |
Summary
[edit]DescriptionGIUK gap.png | This is a PNG version of "Guik gap.gif" as it appeared on the English Wikipedia. As it has been recommended that the GIF version is replaced by a PNG or SVG version, I converted the original GIF to PNG and uploaded it to Wikimedia Commons instead. All I have done is convert the image to PNG, and rename it to "GIUK_gap" instead of "Guik gap", in correspondance with the Wikipedia article on the GIUK gap. |

Original GIF summary
[edit]The GIUK gap is an area in the northern Atlantic Ocean that forms a naval warfare chokepoint. Its name is an acronym for Greenland, Iceland, and the United Kingdom, the gap being the open ocean between these three landmasses. The term is typically used in military topics.
