Summary

[edit]
Description
Afrikaans: Ronsberg
Toe etlike honderd jaar gelede
wild en bere hier hier volop was
het 'n man hierdie plek gekies
was daar in sy rotskombuis.
Snags as dit koud was en sterbelig
het hulle op die beervel warmte gevind.
So het hulle baie jare hier gewoon
gesond, moeitevry en vry van plaag.
Daar was bessiewyn om te drink
en so het die kwaad ingesluip.
Die sap van die bloubessie, giftig,
het vrou en kind weggevoer
voordat die gif ook hom sou knaag
en hy sy bitter lot sou bekla.
Want so berig die legende
was die "DUIWELSKOMBUIS" ten einde.
Deutsch: Ronsberg
Als hier vor vielen hundert Jahren
Manch wild Getier und Bären waren
Erkor ein Mann als sichren Hort
Für Frau und Kind sich diesen Ort
Weil er sich nicht gekannt das Haus
Grub er sich eine Höhle aus.
Sie lebten gut in jenen Tagen
Mit Pfeil und Bogen ging er jagen
Viel junges Wild und frische Fische
gab es in seiner Felsenküche
Des Nachts wenns kalt und sternenhell
Sie wärmten sich am Bärenfell
So lebten Sie hier viele Jahre
Gesund und ohne Müh und Plage
Zum trinken gab es Beerenwein
und so schlich sich das Unheil ein
Der blauen Kirschen gift'ger Saft
hat Weib und Kind dahinngerafft
Bevor das Gift auch Ihn zernagte
Er bitterböse Worte sagte.
Den so berichtet die Legende,
war der "TEUFELSKÜCHE" ende.
English: Ronsberg
When many a hundred years ago
wild animals and bears here abound
a man chose as safe refuge
this place for his wife and child.
As he knew not a house
he then dug a cave for himself.
They lived well in those days
he went hunting with bow and arrow.
Lots of young game and fresh fish
he brought to his rock kitchen.
At night when it was cold and bright with stars
they found warmth on the bearskin.
So they lived here for many years
healthy and without worry or plague.
They had berry wine to drink
and in that way evil managed its way in.
The juice of the blue cherries, poisonous,
had carried away woman and child
before the poison gnawed him too
him uttering bitter words in resentment.
And so, according to legend,
the "DEVIL'S KITCHEN" was at an end.
