Description
Español: Esta especie también es considerada como las de mayor altura en la Amazonía superando los 40 metros. Su corteza es arrugada y algo fisurada; verde y lisa en los individuos jóvenes. Sus hojas son caducas, alternas, compuestas, glabras y digitadas, con 5-7 folíolos lanceolados y acuminados, con bordes aserrados. Sus flores son aisladas sobre cortos pedúnculos robustos, grandes (8-10 cm de diámetro) y vistosas; de color rosáceo-púrpura de intensidad muy variable. También llamado en algunas zonas amazónicas como “palo borracho” por presentar un fuste o tronco algo ensanchado o abultado. En el pasaje Mangual entre la Autoridad Regional Ambiental (ARA) y la Universidad Nacional de San Martín, facultad de Ecología, en las coordenadas UTM: 281612 E, 9330798 N, a una altitud de 886 msnm. De acuerdo con la ficha de registro N° 002-2023-GCA-MPM, se encuentra un ejemplar de Lupuna (Chorisia integrifolia) que fue reconocido como árbol patrimonial el 17 de noviembre de 2023, mediante la Ordenanza Municipal N° 554-MPM.
