Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Built in 1909, this Renaissance Revival-style building was designed by Long, Lamoreaux, and Long for the Fur-Tex company, though it has since become known as the Colwell Building. The building features a dark red brick facade, terra cotta trim, a decorative terra cotta cornice, double-hung windows, brick corbeling and a band of terra cotta trim below the 8th floor windows, pilasters between most window bays, a base made of lighter-colored brick with granite panels and some very elaborate window surrounds, an entrance surround with square pilasters and a shallow awning, and a moat along the north side of the base of the building to provide ample light to the basement. The building is a contributing structure in the Minneapolis Warehouse Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.
