Summary
[edit]DescriptionFungi in the woods at Woodhall Spa - geograph.org.uk - 469436.jpg |
English: Fungi in the woods at Woodhall Spa. These are common ink caps (Coprinus atramentarius). After a few days they turn black and liquefy and the liquid produced was at one time used for ink (hence the name). They are edible, but not with alcohol with which they interact to cause vomiting, headache and stomach cramps. They grow so vigorously that they can sometimes be seen pushing up through tarmac. This woodland has a wealth of plants and fungi. |
