Summary
[edit]DescriptionFungi for All - September 2017 - Tongass National Forest 01.jpg |
English: To provide education on Fungi for All, Ron Hammill and Karen Dillman set up a display table for four days in downtown Hoonah. Each day, they collected more fungus and lichen species to add to the display for people to stop and discuss what they know about fungi and lichens, as well as providing information to those who were simply curious about the diversity and uses. Ron is a professional mycologist from Oregon and has conducted fungi surveys for the Tongass NF for several years on POW. Karen is a Forest Service ecologist based out of Petersburg. This work was possible through collaboration with the Hoonah Indian Association, a Tongass Diversity Grant and SEAWEAD, whose mission is to facilitate collaborative stewardship of natural resources for community sustainability, including ecological, cultural and economic values. |
