Description
English: Funerary treasure of Pouan, 5th century. Saint-Loup Museum, Troyes. Long horseman's sword, shorter bladed sword called scramasaxe, and their scabbards decorated with gold plates partitioned with garnets imported from Rajasthan in northern India. Also magnificent solid gold jewelry: necklace, bracelet, buckles, some also cloisonné, and a ring bearing the Gothic name of HEVA, possibly that of the warrior of very high rank buried in Pouan. Discovered in the area that could correspond to the Catalaunic Fields, in 451 against Attila and the Huns.
