Summary

[edit]
Description
English: These steam plumes are part of Brady's Hot Springs, a hydrothermal area along the Brady Fault in northwestern Nevada. Geothermal energy generation in the area has occurred for many years and the surface hot springs have long been wrecked. The steam plumes ("fumaroles") are not natural - the original hot springs had flowing hot water at the surface, with active siliceous sinter deposition. The current water table is well below the surface. It dropped due to geothermal power development. People need to understand that geothermal power is NOT GREEN. Brady's Hot Springs have been ruined forever - might as well continue making electricity there. Untapped "hydrothermal resources" need to be left as is. Such environments are among the rarest and most beautiful on Earth (for example, Yellowstone). Geothermal drilling destroys the environment. Overpopulated hominids cannot continue wrecking the Earth's surface environment ad infinitum.
