Description

This building was part of the Los Alamos Ranch School, named after the aspen trees that blossomed in the spring.

It and a large surrounding area was taken over by the US military as the main base for the Manhattan Project - to design & build the first Atomic Bombs.

Until 1957 the entire town was sealed off and no casual visitor could get past the armed guards.

Today the town is open to visitors, with an atomic museum and period building available to visit.
