Description
Español: Fort Zoutman ( pronunciación holandesa: [fɔrt ˈsʌutmɑn] ) [4] es una fortificación militar en Oranjestad, Aruba . Originalmente construido en 1798 por esclavos africanos , con materiales proporcionados por los amerindios , quienes realizaron el trabajo legal o corvée para la Compañía Holandesa de las Indias Occidentales , es la estructura más antigua de la isla de Aruba y es considerada por la UNESCO como un "Lugar de la Memoria de la Ruta del Comercio de Esclavos en el Caribe Latino'. [3]La Torre Willem III se agregó al lado oeste del fuerte en 1868. El fuerte y la torre fueron restaurados y reabiertos en 1983 como el Museo Histórico de Aruba
