Description
Español: Mansión señorial del siglo XIX, cuya construcción data desde 1860, típica de la época de bonanza de la minería de la plata en Atacama.

Antes de la construcción de este palacete, estuvo la casa que albergaba al Corregidor Francisco Cortes Cartabío y Roldan, fundador de la ciudad. Con el tiempo esta casa tuvo diversas utilidades, sirvió en el comercio, como hotel y farmacia, hasta que fue comprada a la Familia de don Nicolás Paulsen, por la Ilustre Municipalidad de Copiapó, para la administración comunal, en 1945. Desde 1996 está destinada a la Dirección de Extensión Cultural, (Casa de la Cultura) Su estructura no difiere de las distintas construcciones típicas de Copiapó, maderas, cañas, revestidas con barro. Su construcción neoclásica, con pilares de madera en su entrada principal, soportan una bella cornisa, al igual que sus cinco ventanas principales, con rejas de fierro forjado.

Le rodea en su perímetro una cornisa de maderas, finamente adosada.
