Summary

[edit]
Description
Deutsch: Frontbann-Abzeichen, getragen bis 1934, auf dem Hakenkreuz hinter dem Stahlhelm der Wahlspruch „Wir wollen frei werden“.
English: The Frontbann badge, worn until 1934. The motto on the swastika behind the helmet reads "Wir wollen frei werden" ("We want to be free").

Frontbann was a reorganized front organization of the SA (Sturmabteilung) formed in April 1924 to replace the banned SA after Hitler's Munich Putsch. It disbanded in February 1925 when the ban was lifted. The Frontbann Badge, established in 1932, commemorated the organization. To qualify for the badge, one had to have joined Frontbann before December 31, 1927, and been a member of the Nazi Party (NSDAP) or another right-wing paramilitary group prior to that date. The silver badge featured a Nazi swastika with a German helmet|, bearing the motto Wir wollen frei werden ("We want to be free"). It was delisted as an official decoration of the Nazi Party in 1934.
