Description
English: From the September 3, 1938 issue of the News and Observer:

"This view shows the hurry and bustle of the News and Observer's mailing room, whence go out nightly 60,000 copies of The Old Reliable to blanket Raleigh and eastern North Carolina. In the background, to the right of the pillars is the automatic conveyor device which brings in a steady stream of papers to be counted, bundled according to destination and shipped off by truck or train--or carried out by local carrier boys. In the foreground, mailing room boys are shown operating machines which use copper wire to tie the bundles of paper."
