[edit]DescriptionFrom the Archives Tugboat Nels J (6594896779).jpg |
For some reason I didn't think to post this photo. This tug is the Nels J and belongs to Heritage Marine. It is one of three tugs that the company owns and does work around the Duluth/Superior Harbor. One afternoon when I was in Duluth, all three of the Heritage Marine tugs were crusing the harbor, apparently on a photo shoot. Fortunately for me, they came close to where I was standing, so I got to shoot photos too! According to an article at professionalmariner.com: "Heritage Marine acquired a second tug in 2009, this one named Nels J. (ex-Ares) with a single 16-cylinder EMD-645 diesel and a Falk reduction/reversing gear. The 103-foot tug, built in 1958, was delivered to the Great Lakes from the Gulf Coast in October 2009." |
