Summary
[edit]DescriptionFritillaria meleagris - Flickr - peganum (9).jpg | Part of an extensive colony. I'm fairly sure they're not natural here (although the species is native to the British Isles) but I have no idea when the original bulbs were planted. They're very numerous in the meadow area here where it is very soggy underfoot for much of the time but they seed around very freely all over the garden including into the borders and onto a dry rocky bank. I think the secret of successful planting is to make sure you get hold of plump fresh bulbs, preferably packed in compost - not the shrivelled excuses offered by most bulb merchants. |
