Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Frinton-on-Sea: Connaught Avenue and The Lock & Barrel Connaught Avenue is known as the "Bond Street of the East Coast" and is the main shopping thoroughfare in the town. Frinton-on-Sea, renowned for its gentility, famously had no public house until September 2000 when Shepherd Neame opened The Lock & Barrel here. The pub was built on a site formerly occupied by the ironmongers Blowers & Cooper, hence the derivation of the name of the pub. Blowers & Cooper were the town's oldest family business when their shop was closed in 1996.
